Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, jacks, cranes, wedges, drift pins, mig welders, and hand tools.
Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using calipers, squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
Tack-weld fitted parts together.
Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as grinders, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
Required Experience
Must have the ability to read and interpret gauges such as, but not limited to calipers, micrometers & etc.
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED
Required Characteristics
Must be motivated and willing to come in early or stay over and work Saturdays to achieve production goals.
Must have a positive attitude as well as a willingness to pitch in and help fellow team members to achieve production goals.
Must be willing and able to perform any job assignment as production levels require shifts in job assignments including alternate shift schedules.
