Read work orders, production schedules, and prints to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of bend lines, orientation of part before bending, and dimensions and tolerances.
Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
Examine completed workpieces for defects such as cracked edges and marred surfaces, and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
Operate, Position, align, or secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal.
Lift dies and workpieces to machines manually.
Adjust machine speeds, forces and back gauges, according to product specifications, and use gauges and CNC controls to make adjustments.
Clean and lubricate machines.
Required Experience
Must have 1-2 years of Press Machine (Setup & Operating) experience with a Metal Manufacturer.
Must have the ability to read and interpret gauges such as, but not limited to calipers, micrometers & etc.
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED
Required Characteristics
Must be motivated and willing to come in early or stay over and work Saturdays to achieve production goals.
Must have a positive attitude as well as a willingness to pitch in and help fellow team members to achieve production goals.
Must be willing and able to perform any job assignment as production levels require shifts in job assignments including alternate shift schedules.
